Fairbanks Advocacy Workshop (free)
Join us for a Friends Committee on National Legislation Introduction to Advocacy Workshop (FCNL). Come and learn strategic and effective advocacy tools to promote peace and justice, and be part of creating a local grassroots advocacy team in Fairbanks. At the workshop, you will also learn about the 2019 FCNL Advocacy Team campaign to repeal the 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) that have been used by three presidents to justify endless wars. This Introduction to Advocacy Workshop features FCNL Advocacy Teams Trainer Sarah Freeman-Woolpert. The workshop will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a potluck at 5:30. The office is at 3535 College Road, upstairs over the Fuji Restaurant. The stairs share an external door with the restaurant. All are welcome.

Come Visit Our Booth in the Borealis Pavilion!
We’re in one of the center aisles near the east end, not far from the League of Women Voters. The Borealis Pavilion is the large blue building on the left as one enters through the Blue Gate at the east end of the Fairgrounds. The Fair is open from noon to 10 pm, Friday, August 2 through Sunday, August 11.
Discussions, Peace Peas, Peace Is A Lifesaver, Bumper Stickers, Buttons, War Is A Racket, KWRK-LP swag, and more!

Free famous barbeque! Please bring a dish to share and eating utensils if possible. This will be an opportunity to relax in the summer sun and share ideas and interests. We encourage those with a passion for peace to get involved at the personal level to make a difference in our own community. We’ll be featuring short presentations of work toward peace, justice, and sustainability being done in our community. The Square Dance Pavilion is between the Dance Hall and the the Pioneer Air Museum.

A Documentary — Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom

This film witnesses the formation of a new civil rights movement in Ukraine in 2013 and 2014. It captures the remarkable mobilization of nearly a million citizens from across the country.
Rev. Neill McKay recently traveled to the Ukraine, participating in a Peacemaking Travel Study Seminar. He will address information in the movie and speak about his experiences there.
