Alternatives to Violence, Basic Workshop

Alternatives to Violence Project – USA (AVP) workshops use the shared experience of both participants and facilitators to examine how injustice, prejudice, frustration and anger can lead to aggressive behavior and violence. We explore our innate power to respond in new and creative ways.

Three Day Workshop:

  • Friday, December 6: 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm
  • Saturday, December 7: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Sunday, December 8: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

This beginning basic training will present conflict resolution skills through experiential learning exercises and practice with the goal of helping Direct Service providers and community members to think about and make choices to reduce conflicts in work and everyday settings. There will be 18 Contact Hours associated with this training.

Join us for a Friends Committee on National Legislation Introduction to Advocacy Workshop (FCNL). Come and learn strategic and effective advocacy tools to promote peace and justice, and be part of creating a local grassroots advocacy team in Fairbanks. At the workshop, you will also learn about the 2019 FCNL Advocacy Team campaign to repeal the 2001 and 2002 Authorizations for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) that have been used by three presidents to justify endless wars. This Introduction to Advocacy Workshop features FCNL Advocacy Teams Trainer Sarah Freeman-Woolpert. The workshop will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a potluck at 5:30.
